I started in local 348 which was dissolved in 1998 and merged with local 531 and was named local 45. As you may or may not know we in New York City are again under trusteeship by the UBC and the General President Douglas J. McCarron. We are in the process of getting back our elections for our district council and ending the trusteeship. Our council has been plagued by mob influenced corruption for almost as long as it has been around, which is hopefully being corrected now by a court appointed review officer. However McCarron has been dissolving local unions and councils all over the brotherhood for the last 19 years and most for reasons that add up to no more than a way for him to control their votes and money. I urge you to rise up against any McCarron appointed officers and delegates to your locals and councils. Vote them out and vote in members who have the guts to stand up against McCarron and his cronies. Take back your union and when the time is right we must all stand together and rid ourselves of of the tyranny that McCarron has created.""
