Just a little bit about my individual support for this social cause.

So I thought that a little bit of background information on myself, this blog's writer [Hannah], might be fitting. Yes, it seems fitting to explain why I support these issues. So here is some basic information about me, and why I feel the way I do.

In regard to my location, I've had the privilege of spending all my life in the "built Union strong" state of Minnesota. Right now, I live [just barely] on the East Side of Saint Paul, with my boyfriend and our two cats.

As I've grown older and more politically aware, democracy has become my muse.

I'm fascinated by the way our representative democracy works-and doesn't work. I'm interested in the direction our state and country is moving in and aim to provide timely information, relevant content & open discussion for those in support of the Labor Movement, Unions & citizen activism.

Who me? No, I don't even have a Union-membership card. Wish I did-I wouldn't have to use my Union father's health insurance... but alas, I don't. I'm a student, working a couple jobs, just looking toward graduation.

I collect the contents of this blog because organizations of real [not corporate] people, working for real [not corporate] people, should remain an important, elevated aspect of our democracy. I hope to be a member of a labor organization some day. I plan on happily paying my dues [whether or not a Minnesota state-law says I've got to] and enjoying every last vacation check cent I'm afforded. I want to execute the social collective's ability to bargain for our wages and benefits. Yes, I want to enjoy those benefits and seek to proliferate their breadth. That's why I "do this blog." Because if I don't, these things may not be there for me.

Local #322 Carpenters Day at the Capitol
Opening Reception

Carpenters: to the capitol!

Hey carpenters!
Listen up!
Today is the big day!

Today is the day we visit the capitol, speak with our legislators,

and tell them about the benefits of organized labor!

I cannot wait to see the turn-out,

and impact, we are able to create.

Last night was the kick-off to our capitol visit and the Olive Street reception was well attended by many legislators and journeymen! Yes, people at the 322 local last night were excited for Carpenter's Day at the Capitol!
